    Hey {first_name}!



    I feel like a kid constantly apologising for being late, and as funny as that image is, I promise this won’t become a habit. Life’s just been a lot (and still is a lot).



    Big news though: I’ve finally moved! 🎉

    I haven’t stopped moving since Monday, and I literally only got a sofa today. My quads are filing for a restraining order.



    Between the move, Jasper’s ups and downs, a neighbour’s dog barking half the night, water issues at the house… every small stress has piled into one big “I might snap if I hear one more thing” moment. Honestly, I feel like I’m living my own version of trigger stacking right now.



    I’m genuinely thinking me and Jasper might do a detox together — reset our routines, clear the chaos. I might even record the changes as a little case study… and if there’s interest, maybe we do a group detox challenge. 👀



    Oh, and I still haven’t reunited with my hippogriff yet. I haven’t had time to fly around in Hogwarts Legacy and honestly… I think he’s forgotten what I look like.


    🎨 The Art of Neutrality: Part 6

    Over the last five weeks, we’ve dug into what neutrality really is:

    • Why it has to come before socialisation

    • How it builds resilience and recovery

    • Where and how to start without overwhelming your dog

    • And the small, repeatable actions that make it stick

    And why it's so important for our progress...

    • It reduces emotional fallout. Triggers don’t ruin the day — your dog bounces back instead of spiralling.

    • It creates space for training to stick. Your dog can actually hear you and learn, instead of reacting first.

    • It protects your progress. Without neutrality, every exciting walk or trigger-heavy day chips away at confidence.

    But here’s the piece we haven’t talked about yet: your role in all of this.

    It’s easy to focus on what the dog should do — but neutrality is co-created.

    Your dog’s ability to regulate doesn’t exist in a bubble. It’s tied directly to your emotions and actions.


    🧍‍♂️ Your side of the leash:

    • Control your emotions.

    Even if you’re silently panicking inside, your dog needs to feel your calm on the outside.

    Project confidence — “I’ve got this.”

    When your dog senses that aura of safety, they don’t feel like they have to take control.

    • Breathe and soften.

    Drop your shoulders. Unclench your hands (don't drop th leash though). Slow your pace.

    A soft body and steady breath say more than words ever will.

    • Observe, don’t obsess.

    Watch your dog’s body language and environment without micromanaging.

    Neutrality is built in calm observation, not constant correction.

    • Do the work.

    Having the knowledge is great — but progress only comes from getting out there.

    A lot of owners stay inside because [neutrality] training is hard, or scary, or slow. But avoiding the work builds a shaky foundation.

    It’s better to get out, make the mistakes, and learn what your dog needs. Every small error becomes a stepping stone to real confidence.

    Neutrality is built together.


    📌 Your Action Step for This Week

    • Pick one quiet, low-pressure environment — somewhere with minimal triggers.

    • Spend 10–15 minutes just being there — walk slowly, let your dog sniff, keep your body soft.

    • Project confidence, even if you’re faking it at first.

    • Make it positive — add a short play break or a decompression sniff session.

    • Note your baseline — how calm they were, how long recovery took, any small wins.

    This is where real neutrality starts: not in the perfect session, but in the quiet, imperfect ones where you both practice calm.

    We’ve officially wrapped up our first deep-dive newsletter series. Thank you for sticking with me through it — I hope it’s left you with tools you can actually use in your day-to-day.

    Anyway {first_name}, I have to get back to meal prepping. I was meant to take 30 minutes writing this but it escaped from me slightly.

    I’m hoping I get a chance to chill out this weekend, but honestly, my to-do list is feral and I've got spider patrol tomorrow as well 😭

    If I don’t get a break sometime this week, my next chance is basically Halloween…so pray for me, please.
