Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

🧭 About Paws of Wisdom

What is Paws of Wisdom?

This is a hub of information for reactive, anxious, and overwhelmed dogs — and the humans holding it all together (or trying to anyway). It’s for the ones who’ve cried after walks, questioned absolutely everything, yet still keep showing up. This space is built on foundations, clarity, regulation and the kind of real-life support that meets you and your dog where you are — not where someone thinks you should be.

Who is this for?

This is for the dogs stuck in the same survival loops, waking up every day and choosing violence because they don’t know how else to cope. The ones who can’t self-regulate, can’t settle, and struggle to make good choices — even when they want to. It's also for the humans doing everything they can to help, even when nothing seems to stick.

Welcome home.

Do I need a trainer, or can I do this solo?

You can absolutely do this on your own. The guides and tools are designed to make sense of the chaos! That said, if you’re working with a trainer, this stuff fits in beautifully.

Is this just for reactive dogs?

Nope! Here you'll find tools, tips, information and strategies you can use for anxious dogs, spicy rescues, overstimmed puppies, and dogs who are simply just...a lot. If your dog struggles with regulation, you're in the right place.

How is this different from other training sites?

Most training advice skips straight to “fix the behaviour.” Here, the focus is teaching you about what's on the underneath — the stress, the arousal, the unmet needs — and we rebuild from there. This isn’t about perfect obedience. It’s about less pressure. More partnership.

🐶 Training Philosophy

Do you use positive reinforcement?

Absolutely. It’s the best way to help a dog learn. But I take a more balanced approach because learning only happens when a dog feels safe and knows what’s expected of them. Sometimes that means treats. Sometimes that means boundaries. It’s not about control — it’s about creating the kind of structure your dog can actually thrive in.

What if I’ve tried force-free methods and they didn’t work?

That’s totally valid and honestly, really common. Most dogs people are trying to train aren’t actually ready to learn yet regardless of what methodology you choose. If your dog’s nervous system is overloaded, even the best methods can fall flat.

It’s not about the tools — it’s about timing, regulation, and whether your dog is in a place where learning is even possible.

That’s why we don’t start with skills. We start with the foundations.

Is this suitable for puppies? Seniors? Rescue dogs?

Yep. The methods are flexible. You’ll just tailor the pace and focus depending on your dog’s age, health, and history.

What if I’ve tried everything?

You probably haven’t tried this. Most people skip straight to behaviour without looking at the underlying nervous system needs. That’s where we start. That’s where things change.

📘 Products, Guides & Tools

How do I access the Notion journal?

After purchase, you’ll get an email with a link to duplicate it into your own Notion account. It’s faster than ordering a coffee. (And less likely to give you anxiety.)

Do I need to know how to use Notion?

Nope. If you can click buttons and type in a box, you’re golden. Setup instructions are included as a video too.

What’s in the 5-Day Detox?

A structured reset to stop the chaos and get you both breathing again. It’s five days of cutting stress, meeting needs, observation, grounded routines, and the kind of clarity that helps you actually see what’s been missing.

Think less overwhelm. More regulation...and a starting point that makes sense.

Do you offer 1:1 support or consults?

Yes — I offer virtual coaching sessions for owners who need more personalised support. Availability is limited, and while I’ve worked with a wide range of behaviours, I don’t take on aggression cases without being able to see the dog in person.

If you’re unsure whether it’s a fit, just drop me a message — I'll be happy to chat it through.

Do you do refunds?

Due to the digital nature of the products, I don’t offer refunds unless you’ve accidentally purchased something twice (it happens to the best of us...been there, clicked too fast.) Just send drop me a message and I’ll fix it.

💌 Email Lists & Newsletters

Should I sign up for the newsletter?

Yes! That's a silly question...but maybe I'm just biased. If you like tips, stories, memes, weird pep talks, or just want to feel less alone in your dog journey — it’s a good time. I'll also throw some discounts, freebies and other goodies for being my friend that "normies" won't get. Plus you get my unfiltered self in your inbox every Friday, like be prepared for at least one explicit! 👉🏾 [Click here to sign up!]

What kind of stuff do you send?

Mostly insights, relatable real-talk, weekly tips, dog pics, challenges, new resources, unnecessary oversharing and helpful nudges. Sometimes there’s chaos. Sometimes there are breakthroughs but it's always honest.

Can I unsubscribe?

Totally. There’s a button in every email. No guilt-trips. No hard feelings. No puppy dog eyes.

💻 Tech & Troubleshooting

I didn’t get my download!

First, check your spam or that weird promo folder (sneaky little devils). Still missing? Get in touch — I’ll make it right.

Do I need a paid Notion account?

Nope! Everything works perfectly on the free version.

Can I use this on mobile?

Yep. Notion works on phones, tablets, computers, and probably your fridge if it’s fancy enough (please note this is a joke, I don't want to see any emails claiming the journal doesn't work on your smart fridge)

📈 Progress & Results

How long until I see progress?

Some people see changes in a few days. For others, it takes weeks. Others even longer. It depends on your dog, your consistency, and how cooked both your nervous systems are. Some dogs have been living in cycles of stress for so long that they need a full-on retreat to be able to exhale again. This isn’t magic. But it is effective.

What if things get worse before they get better?

That’s normal. Change feels weird. Detoxing patterns can temporarily shake things up. You'll probably meet resistance at first but stick with it — you’ll start seeing the wins.

Where should I start?

Start with the Detox. The Detox lays the groundwork for everything else.

Can I use this alongside my trainer?

Absolutely! This works beautifully alongside training sessions and can even give your trainer better insight into what’s going on between sessions.

❤️ About Me

Have you been through this yourself?

Oh yeah. Paws of Wisdom was built from total overwhelm — the kind that leaves you crying in the kitchen and Googling at 2am, wondering what you’re doing wrong. I obsessively dove into courses, research, and every resource I could find — not just to help my dog, but to truly understand what was going on underneath the behaviour.

What came out of it was a framework that actually worked — not just for us, but for the people I now get to support through the same kind of mess and chaos.

What kind of dog do you have?

I’ve got a Staffie whose only modes are 0 and 300%. He’s a tornado made of bricks, fuelled by vibes, and if he didn’t end up with dementia, I’d be convinced he was invincible.

Where can I learn more about your story?

Head to the "About Me" page, if you're more visually orientated you can also check out the instagram or join the email list for more behind-the-scenes stuff.
